In this latest Digital Excellence 2019 Speaker Insight article we interview Daisy Hooper, Head of Student Experience at the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). She will be talking about how CMI is building digital foundations to engage with their student members.

What does your organisation do and how many members does it have?

We support our 130,000+ members to become more effective managers and leaders through training, networking, and professional events. 

What is your session about at Digital Excellence 2019?

My session will focus on the challenges of using technology to engage and convert our growing community of 80,000+ students, at scale and on a shoestring. I’ll be sharing some examples of the things that have worked for us. 

Why is this a topic of interest to membership professionals?

The session will highlight some of things I’ve learnt about the challenges around using technology and digital tools to acquire and retain members and ensuring member satisfaction with remote engagement. I’ll also be talking through some of the internal challenges we’ve faced in putting in place a new strategy for student engagement. 

Who is your session useful for, who would find it useful?

Anyone who’s interested in member engagement, engaging young members and/ or using engagement tools and tactics at scale. 

Why did you agree to take part in Digital Excellence 2019 as a speaker?

Technology is central to everything that we do but it’s not always easy to work out how to use it effectively to meet organisational and stakeholder wants and needs. I’m keen to share what I’ve learnt at CMI about using technology to support our students’ engagement and perhaps find answers to some of the questions I haven’t yet found answers for!

Are you looking forward to attending and what do you hope to get from it?

Yes I’m really looking forward to it. The last time I attended MemberWise I got some really useful tips and support on how we can do things better so I’m keen to learn more!
