In this latest Digital Excellence 2019 Speaker Insight article we interview Joni Tyler, Head of CPD at RIBA. She (and her colleague Mansuk) will be talking about how to effectively implement a CPD project by working across teams.

What does your organisation do?

We are the professional chartered body for architects in the UK, driving excellence in architecture. We serve our members and society in order to deliver better buildings and places, stronger communities and a sustainable environment. We have over 44,000 members.

What is your session about at Digital Excellence 2019?

How techie and non techie colleagues across an organisation collaborated as a group to robustly and painstakingly specify and procure a new digital product. In this case, the right new CPD recording and education experience platform. How the slight “pain” was worth the big gain.  And how a comprehensive and detailed set of specifications are part of that work.

Why is this a topic of interest to membership professionals?

Because the specification and procurement of complex digital products and projects is increasingly part of our jobs. As most of us are not techies, knowing how to work with those teams effectively and collaboratively can mean the difference between a flop and a success. And because most professional bodies already require, or are looking to require, CPD recording.

Who is your session useful for, who would find it useful?

For anyone thinking about a big or a little digital or tech project, and for CPD people.

Why did you agree to take part in Digital Excellence 2019 as a speaker?

Because I love Digital Excellence, am proud of this project, and want to evangelise to make digital easier for people.

Are you looking forward to attending and what do you hope to get from it?

I looooove this conference, and can’t wait to be there.  I am hoping to learn from other delegates and other sessions.  As this is always the case, I know this year will be no exception.
